April 2022 Prayer Guide

ALBANIA — Words of Hope’s team in Albania has been focusing efforts on ministering to elderly and vision impaired individuals who struggle to read printed text. The pastor at one church congregation told us that several people have been blessed by listening to the Words of Hope program on the radio. They also appreciate the Words of Hope Albanian app that offers the Bible and other programs in an audio format.

SOUTH SUDAN — Please be in prayer for the process of building a recording studio in South Sudan. Pray also for provision of all the radio equipment that will need to be purchased. Funds must be raised to construct the studio itself, and also to build a protective wall to surround the property. Pray for wisdom for Words of Hope South Sudan’s local board members as they navigate decisions regarding the construction.

NEPAL — Give thanks for the safe completion of a wonderful ministry trip for the Words of Hope Nepal team. Our director expressed thanks for the vehicle that allowed them to make the trip, which was provided by Words of Hope donors. “God is gracious, and I am thankful,” he said. “This has been the best ministry trip so far!” Pray for the church leaders that received training during this trip, that they would be encouraged as they continue leading their congregations.

NIGER — Words of Hope’s director in Niger expresses gratitude to God for the blessing of safe travels to a studio board meeting. He was also encouraged by the success of a men’s convention hosted by local churches over the course of three days. Please be in prayer for the team as they plan for the installation of a second recording studio to accommodate the production of programs in the Fulfulde language.

IRAN — Pray for encouragement for the Persian team as they continue producing video content to share on YouTube and social media. Give thanks that they recently heard from a Persian-speaking woman who lives in Sweden. She expressed that the Words of Hope Persian radio station is her favorite Christian resource to listen to. She listens to it from morning to night. Pray that others in this woman’s family would grow in faith through her witness.

BHUTAN — The Words of Hope team in Bhutan has begun making short devotional videos in the language of Tawang Monpa. Please pray that they would be able to distribute the messages widely through social media, and that many would come to hear the gospel in their heart language as a result. We also pray that the Lord would guide efforts at follow-up as people hear and respond to the videos.

TURKEY — Pray for ministry in Turkey. Our director writes: “Our mission is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through media channels such as radio, TV, and social media. Our vision is to see the evangelization of the country with the truth of the gospel —especially the young people, 30 years old and younger, who comprise 50% of the population.” Pray for our director as he seeks to prepare programs that speak to daily life from a biblical perspective.

ENGLISH — Give thanks for the following note from a devotional reader, “I discovered the Words of Hope devotional at a thrift center and have been blessed every day for about five years.” Pray for our efforts to expand the reach of the Words of Hope devotional to new audiences. We especially hope to increase the number of individual subscriptions so that we are better able to connect to and follow up with readers.

UGANDA — Please pray for the work being done in the Rukonzo language. We are thankful that the team has been able to start broadcasting programming through the night, as this has been a common request from listeners. We give thanks also for the successful launch of a social media platform in order to better connect with younger audience members. Pray that it will allow Ugandan team members to quickly follow up with anyone who has questions or prayer requests.

INDONESIA — Give thanks that two local pastors are now helping to translate YouTube programs into the Nias language. They are both delighted to be involved in the ministry. A new listening community has also started among Nias speakers. To date the group has 21 members. In total, there are currently 13 active listening communities in Indonesia, with a total of 271 individual members.

INDIA — Words of Hope’s ministry director in India shares, “Field activities of good works and good news continue to increase and expand in spite of the threat of Omicron. Life is gradually limping back to normalcy. Elections are over, and now the greatest fear is rising prices. The war in Ukraine is having an adverse effect on the economy in India, but not as terrible as the Ukrainians are facing today. Our heart goes to them in prayer.”

ENGLISH — Give thanks for growing numbers of followers for Words of Hope’s Facebook page. The page posts links to the daily devotional, as well as prayer requests, ministry updates, and Bible verses. Pray that these posts would serve as a glimpse of hope in the midst of hard days, and pray that more individuals would be led to comment on and share the posts, so that Christ’s hope continues to shine amidst the negativity that can otherwise be present on social media.
