Rise Again

Read: Proverbs 24:15-22

For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes. (v. 16 NIV)

Life will cause you to stumble, but God’s Word encourages us that the fall is not the final stage. The emphasis here is not on the fall but on the rise. Even those who walk in righteousness, those who pray, trust, and endeavor to live in alignment with God, stumble and fall. They stumble in relationships, fail in studies or work, grapple with doubt, and contend with seasons of despair. The righteous are not exempt from pain, yet this verse offers a steadfast hope.

Falling is not shameful; rather, it is human. Rising involves courage, determination, and faith that God is at work even in the midst of failure. Every fall can be a teaching moment, and every setback a step toward maturity and resilience. Biblical hope tells us that even when life seems overwhelming, when our strength seems insufficient, and when pain repeats itself, we are not without options. God equips us to rise. In Christ, we know that God’s grace is bigger than our failures, his mercy is deeper than our mistakes, and his purposes for our lives cannot be thwarted by temporary setbacks. “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb. 4:16)

With God, each fall is an opportunity to grow, to lean closer, and to testify to his faithfulness.

As you pray, ask God to teach you to rise with courage every time you fall.
