Read: Psalm 27
Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident. (v. 3 NKJV)
Many times, life doesn’t go according to plan, and when that happens, it’s easy to start questioning God’s heart. Waiting has a way of exposing what you truly believe about God.
I remember a season when I stopped praying bold prayers because disappointment had numbed my faith. I still believed in God, but I stopped believing that he would move for me. Then, one day while reading Psalm 27, something struck me: David’s confidence wasn’t rooted in what God did, but in who God was. Even with enemies surrounding him, David declared, “In this I will be confident” (v. 3). His trust was anchored in God’s unchanging nature, not his unpredictable circumstances.
When you can’t trace what God is doing, you must trust who he is. His character is your security when his timing feels unclear. Scripture tells us that God cannot lie (Num. 23:19), that his mercies are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23), and that he remains faithful even when we are faithless (2 Tim. 2:13). Every delay you experience is still held in the hands of a good God.
In a world that promotes believing in only the visible, it sometimes becomes hard to trust in the Invisible God and his invisible ways, especially when we desperately want him to show us his works. You don’t need proof of his timing; you need remembrance of his track record.
As you pray, ask the Lord to help you focus on his unchanging faithfulness in every situation you face.
