Why Bhutan Needs Hope
Bhutan is a small, poor, mountainous region in the eastern Himalaya Mountains. It is one of the least evangelized nations in the world. There are only a handful of native believers here.
The broadcasts are providing the gospel message for people who live in otherwise hard to reach places. The use of radio in Bhutan has been very strategic. The country has always been staunchly Buddhist, and still is. Christianity meets with much opposition here. However, it is encouraging to know that there are many dedicated, committed believers who are working hard to spread the gospel.
The Problem
Bhutan is a majority Buddhist society with heavy restrictions on Christianity. No churches are legally recognized, and individuals who convert to Christianity face significant societal pressure, cultural opposition, and persecution. Resources for Christians are extremely limited, and believers often meet in small, private gatherings.
Our Strategy
Help people access biblical teaching privately and safely through radio programming, social media, and SD card distribution.
Equip house church leaders to strengthen and disciple their communities.
Connect people to other Christians in their area through highly relational followup.
