Uganda

While Christianity in Uganda is widespread, many believers there lack a strong foundation in God’s Word. Poverty, limited educational opportunities, and the influence of false teachings have left many people without the biblical discipleship they need to grow in their faith. For many, following Christ has become more of a cultural identity than a life transformed by the gospel.

Through radio, television, daily devotionals, and personal follow-up, Words of Hope Uganda is helping people discover the truth of Scripture in the languages they understand best. Local Christian leaders answer questions, offer counseling, and walk alongside listeners as they grow in their relationship with Christ and become rooted in biblical truth.

Thank you for standing alongside the church in prayer.

Together, let’s pray for Uganda:

  • Pray for wisdom, safety, and perseverance for Words of Hope team members as they share the gospel across the country.
  • Give thanks that more than 200 people committed their lives to Christ during this year’s Word and Prayer Conference in Mbale. Ask God to strengthen their faith as they begin following him and become rooted in Scripture.
  • Newly ordained clergy are being equipped by Words of Hope to serve through both radio ministry and pastoral care. Give thanks for their passion and fresh perspective and pray that God will use them to strengthen gospel outreach and discipleship in the country.
  • Pray that listeners will recognize and embrace the truth of God’s Word as they hear Words of Hope’s biblical teaching. Ask the Holy Spirit to give discernment to Ugandan listeners who often hear conflicting messages from ministries with questionable doctrine.
  • Pray for a listener named Gladys as she continues to stand firm in her faith after choosing to trust Christ. Ask God to strengthen her and other believers who are turning away from fear, witchcraft, and traditional spiritual practices.
  • Each morning, God’s Word is proclaimed in one Ugandan town as devotions are broadcast on the cathedral loudspeaker. People are now pausing to pray together. We give thanks that even during busy workdays, more believers are making time to seek the Lord.
  • Many people in the church and surrounding communities in Mukono are discovering a deeper understanding of who Jesus is through a radio study of the Gospel of John. The series explores Christ’s coming and his purpose for the world. Pray that these teachings will help listeners embrace the gift of salvation.
