South Sudan is one of the world’s youngest nations and one that continues to carry the deep scars of conflict. After gaining independence in 2011, the country descended into civil war just two years later. Political tensions quickly grew into tribal violence, leaving many communities divided by fear, loss, and distrust. Today, widespread poverty and ongoing instability continue to make daily life difficult for millions of people.
Yet even in the midst of these challenges, God is at work.
Through Words of Hope’s local ministry partners, the message of Christ is reaching communities with the hope of reconciliation and forgiveness. Radio programs encourage believers to look beyond tribal divisions and discover the unity that is found in Christ. They also equip churches with biblical teaching and practical tools for healing relationships that have been broken by years of violence.

- Ask God to bring healing to divided communities and continue building his church in South Sudan.
- A season of greater peace has created new opportunities for ministry in South Sudan. A renewed emphasis on peace and reconciliation by local leaders has made it possible for Words of Hope staff to travel safely and continue producing radio programs. Pray for them as they faithfully work in this season.
- Words of Hope’s radio ministry is expanding its reach across South Sudan. Programs produced are now being shared each month with community radio stations throughout the country in regions where the majority of people speak Dinka. Pray for those who will hear.
- Local leaders have increasingly pointed to Words of Hope’s radio programs as positive examples of promoting unity. Pray that God will continue to use Words of Hope’s programs for his good purposes.
