Dogri Worship Reaches Remote Villages

Having recently overtaken China as the world’s most populous country, India boasts over a billion people and yet many have never even heard the name of Jesus. And yet, through media outreach, church planting, and discipleship, the Gospel is spreading in powerful ways.

In the remote village of Samole, for example—40 kilometers from Words of Hope’s ministry center in Udhampur—believers are worshiping with the help of gospel content delivered on SD cards.

A woman from Samole named Sumi is helping to connect many people in her village to the hope of the Gospel. Though she has suffered deep personal loss, including the death of her son due to drug addiction, she continues to share hope with others. The rest of her family has come to Christ, and Sumi remains active in her local church.

During a recent visit, Sumi requested SD cards filled with Gospel messages and Dogri worship songs. The team was happy to provide them.

Now, Sumi not only listens to the messages herself, but also invites others to hear the Word of God. She reads Scripture aloud, sings the songs, and prays with those who join her. For individuals living far from cities, these SD cards are a lifeline for spiritual growth.

In Psalms, the songbook of the Bible, we read, “My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long” (Ps. 71:8). Because of people like Sumi, this verse rings truer in India than it ever has before.

You may never stand in Samole and listen to the Indian believers worship, but your support makes a difference too. Right now, people in India are hearing the name of Jesus for the first time, often through the gift of music.

Thank you for helping Words of Hope reach the hard-to-reach with hope in their heart language.
