Why Nepal Needs Hope
Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes hide a deep spiritual need. With less than 2% of the population identifying as Christian and strict anti-conversion laws in place, sharing the gospel here is a challenge—but God is opening doors.
Through radio broadcasts, leadership training, and digital outreach, Words of Hope is equipping indigenous pastors and ministry leaders to share the gospel within their cultural contexts and in their own languages. This ensures that faith takes root in a way that is meaningful and sustainable for local communities.
The Problem
Nepal enforces anti-conversion laws that can result in imprisonment for evangelism. Christianity is often viewed as a foreign threat to the culture, and Hindu extremists sometimes attack Christians and churches. These pressures, along with limited resources, make it difficult for believers to gather openly or for the gospel to spread.
Our Strategy
Share the gospel through radio programming and social media.
Initiate church planting efforts, using media ministry as a key starting point for new congregations. When listeners respond from a particular location, follow-up teams visit to see if a small fellowship can be formed.
Plant one effective, Bible-believing church in each of Nepal’s 77 districts.

How to Pray for Nepal
Catastrophic floods have devastated parts of Nepal along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors. Thousands of people are missing, and the loss of life, homes, and livelihoods is difficult to comprehend.

From Listening to Leading — Sherpa Language Ministry
Nestled among the world’s tallest mountains, Nepal is home to a staggering 125 different ethnic groups. The country is best known for the hundreds of climbers who test their mettle on the peaks of Mt. Everest each year. What’s less often seen are the numerous communities who live in these remote regions. Many have had very little opportunity to hear the gospel in their own language.

Bringing the Gospel Closer to Home
When Words of Hope first began broadcasting in Nepal, the ministry model was simple. Biblical sermons were adapted into radio programs and aired around the country in Nepali.
Prayer Requests
- Pray for wisdom, health, and safety for all Words of Hope Nepal team members.
- Pray for everything to work together for the start of new language outreach programs.
- Pray for the after-school tutoring center.
“Radio programs continue to reach many people in different areas in the country, providing opportunities to know and learn about Christ at their door steps.” –Director of Words of Hope Nepal
