Albania

After spending decades under communism, Albania continues to face deep spiritual need. There are fewer than 10,000 believers among a population of three million. Many churches have fewer than 50 members, and locally produced Christian resources are limited.

Yet people in Albania and the neighboring countries of Kosovo and North Macedonia express a hunger for hope and truth. Words of Hope’s local Christian leaders in these places are working to show that the gospel is relevant to everyday life. Through the radio programs, social media posts, apps, and daily devotionals they produce, people are encountering the good news of Jesus. Discipleship programs help believers grow deeper in God’s Word, while partnerships with local churches provide prayer and personal follow-up.

Thank you for standing alongside the church in prayer.

Together, let’s pray for Albania:

  • Give thanks for Miranda, whose faith has grown through listening to Words of Hope radio. Despite living in a largely Muslim community and facing pressure from her family, God’s Word has strengthened her and helped her understand difficult passages of Scripture. Pray that she will continue to hold tightly to Jesus and grow in faith. May God use her witness to encourage her family and neighbors.
  • Vasil is a longtime believer and church elder in Albania who faithfully listens to Christian radio each day. He is especially grateful for the solar-powered radio he received, which allows him to listen to the Bible and Christian programming even when he does not have time to read Scripture. Pray that God will continue to deepen Vasil’s faith through his Word and use Vasil to encourage and strengthen others in his church and community.
  • Protests over government transparency, development projects, environmental concerns, and alleged corruption have continued in Albania for more than 100 days, with some demonstrations leading to clashes with police. Ask God to guard Albania from violence and division and to give wisdom to government leaders, protesters, and law enforcement. Pray for justice and truth, and for peace in communities affected by the ongoing unrest.
  • Following the conviction of four former military and political leaders for war crimes committed during neighboring Kosovo’s struggle for independence, protests have raised concerns about renewed unrest in that country as well. Pray that God will bring peace to Kosovo and comfort families still carrying the wounds of war. May justice and reconciliation help heal the divisions of the past.
