Let’s Restore

Read: Psalm 80

Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved! (v. 3)

Today we are taught to be more sensitive to inner wounds. Many people unknowingly carry emotional wounds in their lives—from a parent, spouse, or even from children or in-laws. Not to mention the world of work and ministry. Relationships can be wounded accidentally or intentionally. A wound that does not heal will affect the wounded person, not only in their relationship with the person who caused the wound, but also in their relationship with others. A wounded person may react destructively, out of their hurt; they need healing and restoration.

Psalm 80:3 is a plea for the Israelites to be restored and saved from sin. God was able to restore the Israelites whose lives had been ruined by sin. God was able to save the Israelites. The same God is also able to heal the wounds that we carry with us on our journey through life. Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

We need to take a moment to reflect if we have any wounds in our life journey. If we have wounds, let us come and ask God to heal us. Wounds that are never healed will unconsciously cause us to create new wounds. May we be able to recognize our wounds and be willing to restore them with God.

As you pray, ask God to heal your wounds and save you.
