Our Prayers are a Sweet Aroma to The Lord

READ : Revelation 5:6-12

“…Angels were holding golden bowls, full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints” (v. 8). “Another angel…was given a great quantity of incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints” (Rev. 8:3).

Do you remember the wonderful aroma of cookies baking, the smell of a freshly bathed baby, a rose garden, or a gardenia corsage? Jesus says our prayers are like that!

As a daily practice, priests burned incense morning and evening. This was called “a perpetual incense before the Lord.” It typified the ministry of our Lord, the Great High Priest who ever lives to make intercessions for us. We, also, as His servants, are to offer up to God daily intercessions, pleading with Him on behalf of others and obtaining for them the blessings they need.

By delighting ourselves in such prayer, and by keeping our lamps burning bright with God’s oil, we bring pleasure to our Maker. Our prayers become like sweet aromas, and the fragrance reaches His nostrils as He rejoices over us! People come to know Christ, battles are won, and others experience great victories over sin.

What a miracle that our prayers actually rise as a fragrance to heaven, release God’s power, and bring Him joy!

PRAYER

in Your heavenly kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
