The Laddakhi language is spoken among the Buddhists of Himachal Pradesh in the northern part of India. The word Ladakh means “land of high passes,” and the people living in this mountainous region often work in agriculture and live nomadic lifestyles. Mission work was started among these group by Moravian missionaries 200 years ago. There are few Christians in the area, and no established church. To begin our work in the Laddakhi language, Words of Hope staff located a few believers who could be trained and produce gospel messages. Words of Hope’s Laddakhi ministry began in 2016.
