    Theme: God has come to earth in a most humble and surprising way.

  2. GETTING READY TO MEET GOD
    Theme: John the Baptist calls God's people to prepare for Jesus.
    Bible Basis: Luke 3:1-20; Matthew 3:13-17 CEV

  3. JESUS PASSES THE TESTS OF TEMPTATION
    Theme: The Holy Spirit of God forces the 'dear Son of God' to a severe test of temptation to evil so that Jesus may prove he is able to save others from such tests.

    Theme: Jesus gives us hope because he has the power to resist temptation

  4. JESUS ANNOUNCES THAT GOD IS RULING
    Theme: Jesus announced that God has begun an "international nation" ruled by his Son, Jesus. To be part of this new nation, people must turn to God from their sins, believe Jesus' good news and be loyal to him.

  5. WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHILD OF GOD
    Theme: To become a child of God a person must be born again by God's Spirit, who gives that person the right to be called a child of God. That new spiritual birth also gives the believer a new heart to follow God.
    Bible Basis: John 1:11-13; 3:3; 5-10, 12; and 1 John 4:7; 5:1, 4, 18

  6. JESUS' SURPRISING POWER
    Theme: Jesus demonstrates that his words have authority and power to forgive sin and heal diseases.
    Bible Basis: Mark 1:21-28; 2:1-12 CEV

  7. THE POWER OF LOVE
    Theme: Jesus' teachings about love show us why we should listen to him.
    Bible Basis: Matthew 22:34-40 NLT

  8. RELIGIOUS LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS
    Theme: Jesus invited followers called disciples to learn God's truth and do God's work with him. As a leader Jesus taught about God. He was also a perfect example of a true follower of God.
    Bible Basis: Luke 5:1-11; 9:22-25

  9. "THE LAST SUPPER"—AN IMPORTANT CHRISTIAN CEREMONY
    Theme: The eating of 'thin bread' and the drinking of 'wine' together by believers is a reminder of Jesus and the salvation he gives us through his death and his resurrection from the dead.
    Bible Basis: Matthew 26:17-19, 26-28; 1 Corinthians 5:7- 8 and John 1:29

  10. GREAT JOY FOR ALL FROM ONE MAN'S SUFFERING
    Theme: Jesus' death is a reason for joy because he died for the sins of all people and he rose from the dead to be a living Savior forever.

  11. HOPE FOR ALL PEOPLE
    Theme: Jesus' followers proclaim his message to all people because he told them to do so.
    Bible Basis: Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8

  12. WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?
    Theme: People who hear the story of Jesus must choose how they will respond to him.
    Bible Basis: Matthew 16:13-17 CEV; 2 Peter 1:16-18; 1 John 1:1-4
